Cyclists hit top gear recently to help raise hundreds of pounds for Island charity, The Wight Brainy Bunch. More than 50 people took to the saddle to pedal for cash in a bid to raise much-needed funds.

The fundraising event took place at TJ’s Gym in Lake, run by husband and wife, Steve and Tina Marsh. Music was pumped out in a nightclub style setting, by DJ Tony Martin, to get the adrenaline going.

In total, the four-hour spin raised £1,100 with the money split between The Wight Brainy Bunch and the Cambodia Project, to build a water tower for a school. Kathryn Grimes, founded The Wight Brainy Bunch with her husband Mark after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. They offer financial and moral support to Islanders affected by the condition.

Meanwhile, the charity has confirmed that supporters will be doing a skydive in the future to raise further funds.
