Wootton-based community enterprise Care in the Garden is more than just a garden company – it’s a place that nurtures people as well as plants. In fact 80% of the items on sale are produced on the Island by its very diverse and supported workforce.

At its Palmers Brook Community Nursery, there’s a popular plant market, growing and selling beautiful plants at amazing prices, along with Splinter wood products, made for the garden, conservatory or indoor rooms.

The floristry section, Blossoms creates beautiful floral displays and arrangements, while Petals jewellery is a business within the company that supports one of its supported workers to run her own enterprise.

Care in the Garden is also supported by a range of other local suppliers, including the Garlic Farm and Jaspers Dog Food.

Director of Care in the Garden John Goodenough says:  “We provide the opportunity for local people with extra care needs to have a fundamental human right to experience a full and meaningful life”.

While the nursery site is still being careful to ensure the safety of staff and customers, it’s no longer necessary to book a slot to shop – so feel free to drop in!
